Mostly this week i 'ave been a giggin and a liggin . Saw the breeders on tuesday, somehow for free, due mainly to Nerys being welcomed in like the missing part of the Academy without which it cannot function in full wrong-capacity. They played "Cannonball" which i realised was the only song i really knew, apart from the Buffy theme, though i'm not sure if i imagined that, being somewhat the worse for booze. Managed to put in an appearance at the aftershow party at Bar Acadamie but had to leave soon after due to losing what little plot there was and having to be put into a taxi. Seeing as the plot i seem to be living is a Kevin Smith film without most of the witty dialogue, thats not much of a plot to lose.
Had to pay to go see jimmy eat world unfortunately, being with Billy Bob Whoreton and my delightful ex-work colleague Eiryl. Somehow this page has found its way onto this list Birmingham Bloggers, and keeping with similar alliteration, i saw billy bragg the other day in Swordfish records one lunch time, ranting about how he wants his new single to be number one for the jubilee. Hmmm....up against the Queen's favourite Will Young? I don't think so...... Monday, May 20, 2002
Weeeeelllll.......seem to be able to post on this here news page again. Apparently they'd changed some of the server settings and not informed me. Anyway, not much to report from amongst the booze haze. I joined the ranks of the ubergeeks on Wednesday night, going to the midnight showing of the new star wars "attack of the clones". Although as it happens, i'd left work at half five, and decided to drink through the anticipation. This lead to me having to run for the last train at eleven, only just making the showing with all the rest of the lightsabre weilding jediheads, and waking up the next day having the vague impression i'd dreamt the new Star Wars film....Luckily i saw it again the next day and am now able to recall the yoda action. How i ended up at the Royal Sun Alliance Stars in their Eyes do at some pub off Collmore Row afterwards was maybe the result of clouding by the Dark Side. Darth Whoreton was definitly behind me being dragged to the wrong-hole that is Snobs on friday though. Excitement and adventure, a Jedi craves not these things......

Well first of all, the gig i was whittling on about in the last post has been cancelled, due apparently to the basement of the Bitter End becoming flooded. The Gossip Lemur heard via a conversation over a couple of chardonnays at the Bar Academy that this was on the insistence of the ever inexplicable Fatal Trowel, who would not play unless the venue was six feet under water, and filled with four hundred japanese ornamental goldfish. All of this is of no conseqence as currently i can't upload to the server where this site is sat like an unapetising pie at the corner of a buffet table, so buddah-only knows when this or the last post will actually appear.
This friday was a tad bizzarre, first there was the free booze and naked female magician (definitly the way to go, unless its Daniels) at the launch for the fierce performing arts festival, then it was onto watch another band from the home of rock that is rapidly becoming Sweden, the soundtrack to our lives , my Swedar kicking in with full effect. How's everybody doin' ? Anything been going on since the last update ? Well, twas my birthday last week, when i hit the big quarter of a century. No going out for me from now on then, should stop in with a good book or something. Maybe not....cheers to everyone who did come out though and made to le 'Acedemie . Along with the drinking i've managed to stay lucid enough to catch a few bands, saw idlewild the other day at the Wulfrun, and yesterday I saw the (international) noise conspiracy at the Garage in Highbury. Much drunken London fun was had by me, The Wizard, Charlotte & Emma, and her pal Becky. Some pics of the gig here . And many thanks to the one known as Zapcats for allowing us to crash at his swanky London pad. No sleeping at weird strangers houses after wandering the streets of Camden aimlessly this time, we stayed with a weirdo who we knew.
For all you music lovers out there, but more for you music abusers, 11/05/02 at "The Bitter End" Sutton Coldfield, West Midlands UK sees the event known only as "Boddicker", a charidee gig featuring a line up of something like this - tinybluechildren , dumbsaint , Landspeed , Venkman and rumours abound as ever of The Mighty Fatal Trowel. The Gossip Lemur has heard via a source deep inside the Mingman's cortex that this will be his last gig as Landspeed front man. Look out for "Ming Idol" coming soon, to see who can fill his extensive shoes. It is also Venkman's debut gig, so witness the end of one era and maybe the beginning of another. Paranoid Android Films will be there to cover the event, unless i am too busy just standing at the bar drinking Jack and practising my wailing and stage antics for the first round of "Ming Idol". ![]() |
